The Secret to Radiant Skin



The quality of our skin reflects our health. All of us want perfect skin, and there are many products in the market promoting that as well. Today, I will be sharing with you my little secret of being healthy and having radiant skin.

Being healthy is one of the most essential ingredients for a happy life. Our health should never be taken for granted, and one of the simplest ways to take care of your health is by drinking lemon water every morning.

I was introduced to the concept of lemon water during a meditation retreat. No meals were to be taken after 12pm, and to combat the gastric juices in the stomach; lemon water was given to students.
Initially I was surprised as I always thought lemon juice was acidic. It was only with further research that I found out that lemon water actually alkalizes the blood and provides an ideal pH condition for the body! In an alkaline condition, your body flourishes, and cancerous cells cannot grow.




This was enough to get me started on my daily dose of lemon water.

Do note that lemon juice by itself can be hard on the enamel of your teeth, so it is important to always dilute it with lukewarm water, and raise your mouth after drinking it. Drink it first thing in the morning, and wait 15 to 30 minutes before breakfast, this will ensure you fully reap the benefits of lemon water.

Benefits of Lemon Water


 1. Balances pH levels in the body.

As mentioned earlier, lemon water provides an alkaline condition in the body which promotes good health and helps prevent the growth and multiplication of harmful bacteria that cause infections and diseases.


 2. Gives your immune system a boost.

Lemon is an excellent and rich source of vitamin C, an essential nutrient which protects your body against diseases.


3. Helps flush out toxins.

Every morning after drinking my cup of warm lemon water, I find myself going to the toilet to clear my bowels. This is not surprising as lemons contain pectin fiber, which is very beneficial for colon health and serves as a powerful antibacterial.


 4. Jam-packed with essential nutrients.

Other than vitamin C, lemon water is also a great source of citric acid, potassium, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium. These are essential minerals your body needs for repair, obtained the natural way. For example, the potassium content in lemon helps nourish your brain and nerve cells.


 5. Helps you lose weight.

Lemon water aids in the production of digestive juices and ensures your digestion runs smoothly. And if you are on a diet, drinking lemon water is a great way to combat those gastric pains!


 6. Give you an energy boost.

Lemon itself produces a scent that is revitalizing. Drinking lemon water and inhaling the warm scent of freshly peeled lemon skin is a sure perk-me-up in the middle of the day.


 7. Gives you blemish-free skin.

Notice how facial masks using the lemon extracts as one of their main ingredients. Lemon extract contains antioxidants that not only decreases wrinkles and fights acne, it also reduces age spots and scars, leading to radiant skin.


 8. Fights sinus/ common cold.

This is my personal favorite. I used to wake up with sinus each morning, but since drinking lemon juice each morning, I find that my sinus conditions have improved tremendously!

How to Prepare Lemon Water?

Preparation of lemon juice is so simple. This is the citrus press I use. It is easy to use and easy to wash. Simply cut half a lemon, squeeze it with the press, and add the amount of water you deem fit, depending on how sour you like your drink. I usually add a ratio of 1:10.

Packed with so much goodness and so easy to prepare, we should all make it a point to begin our day with a glass of warm lemon juice. It’s cleansing and healing effects will do wonders for our health in the long run.
